ANSEC maintains an Information Security Management System (ISMS) which is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2005. Our Quality Management System (QMS) has been certified against ISO 9001:2008.
Our forensic processes and methodologies are compliant with the ‘four principles’ as set out by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) in their document ‘Good Practice Guide for Computer-Based Electronic Evidence’. These are fundamental to every Digital Forensic lab and upholding them is key to delivering a forensically-sound service. An overview of the principles is illustrated below.
ANSEC are compliant with ACPO’s four Principles to Digital Forensics.
No action taken by law enforcement agencies or their agents should change data held on a computer or storage media which may subsequently be relied upon in court.
In circumstances where a person finds it necessary to access original data held on a computer or on storage media, that person must be competent to do so and be able to give evidence explaining the relevance and the implications of their actions.
An audit trail or other record of all processes applied to computer-based electronic evidence should be created and preserved. An independent third party should be able to examine those processes and achieve the same result.
The person in charge of the investigation (the case officer) has overall responsibility for ensuring that the law and these principles are adhered to.
Our Forensic Examiners are experienced professionals and are recognised as Subject Matter Experts (SME) across the forensic industry in the UK and beyond. Our Forensic Examiners are experienced and certified (EnCE) practitioners in imaging and examining Phones, Smartphones and Computers.
Capabilities include the forensic analysis and examination of common devices such as computers, mobile/smart phones, and GPS devices, as well as complex cases involving enterprise servers and large corporate systems. All members of ANSEC’s Digital Forensics Team have a minimum of SC security clearance. They have attended court as Expert Witness and are capable of presenting findings and conclusions in plain understandable terms.
